It depends on where your main drain line runs. If your basement has a rough-in (a capped floor drain at the right location), adding a bathroom is straightforward. Without one, we either break concrete to run new drain lines, or install an above-floor macerating system.

A macerating system grinds waste and pumps it up to the main drain line without concrete breaking. It's more expensive than a gravity system but avoids demo. Best for bathrooms that don't need a full shower — full showers still benefit from proper gravity drains.

Yes — required by code and essential for moisture control. Basement bathrooms have less natural airflow than upper floors. We size the fan correctly and run the duct to an exterior exit.

Porcelain tile on the floor and shower walls is standard — it handles moisture well and is easy to clean. Large-format tiles (12x24 or larger) look modern and have fewer grout lines to maintain.
